How Deafgard X Works

Deafgard X is activated by a System X Transmitter which is either in its Acoustically Linked or Hardwired Mode. When Deafgard X receives a radio signal from the System X Transmitter, the Deafgard X will activate the vibrating pillow pad, high intensity LED and the LCD screen will provide further visual indication that the fire alarm is sounding, this allows the deaf or hard of hearing person to leave their room to a place of safety.

Operating Deafgard X

Any number of Deafgard X units can be linked to any one System X Transmitter within range, although a site survey must be carried out prior to installation.

On/Off

  • Turning the unit on for the first time or after changing batteries:
Depress the on/off button (top left button on the keypad marked 1 on the diagram on page 4 in your Operating Guide) to turn the detection circuitry on. The detection circuits will remain active until the unit is manually switched off. The LCD will also flash to inform the user that the time needs to be set. The LCD will flash for 30 seconds.
  • Turning the unit on when in passive mode (batteries installed and time set): Depress the on/off button (top left button on the keypad) to turn the detection circuitry on. The detection circuits will remain active until the unit is manually switched off.
The LCD will display the time.
  • Turning the unit off: Depress the on/off button (top left button on the keypad) for more than 6 seconds to turn the LCD and detection circuits off. If the time has been set, the internal timer will continue to run despite the unit being turned off.
