5-Star Hempel hotel chooses Deafgard to protect deaf guests
Luxury 5-star London boutique hotel The Hempel is the latest hotel to choose Deafgard to protect deaf or hard of hearing guests who could be in danger of not hearing a fire alarm whilst asleep.
This stylish and sophisticated 5-star London luxury boutique hotel, conceived by acclaimed British designer Anouska Hempel, offers an intimate and elegant hideaway in the fashionable heart of West London. And this philosophy of delivering excellence extends to accommodating the special needs of all the hotel’s guests.
The Hempel recognise that Deafgard offers the most flexible and cost effective solution. “When a deaf or hard of hearing guest checks in, the hotel Receptionist shows the guest how to operate the unit which the guest takes to his/her hotel room, giving peace of mind should there be a fire emergency”.
Deafgard is a moveable wireless, acoustically triggered bedside unit that incorporates a high intensity strobe and a connected vibrator pad, that when placed under the pillow, vibrates to wake the sleeper upon the fire alarm sounding. The flashing LED’s and LCD provide visual indication that the fire alarm is sounding, allowing the individual to leave their room to a place of safety.
Deafgard assists in complying with elements of the DDA, and it is designed to respond to a fire alarm installed in conformity with the British Standard 5839 Part 1.
